Fashionable Amusements of Modern Beauties, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Fantastic scene of Prince Genji practicing archery indoors. A black and white target is suspended from a kimono stand with a hanging kimono providing a backdrop for stray arrows. The young nobleman playfully pushes aside the robe to peer through the stand, gesturing with his fan. Colorful lanterns hang from the eaves over the verandah, the gray evening sky framed by hanging blossoms and leaves. Wonderful detail in this delightful subject.
