Comments - Incredible depiction of Minamoto no Yorimitsu (Raiko) and his four trusted retainers attacking the demon Shuten-doji in his lair at Mt. Oeyama. The monster's enormous head flies at its attackers, baring its sharp teeth and fangs with bulging yellow eyes in a hideous grimace. Breath streams from its open mouth, hair flying wildly about the horned head. At left, Raiko braces himself on one knee, drawing his sword back above his head. The warrior behind him thrusts his iron club at Shuten-doji's face, while the three samurai at right are ready with their spears. At upper left, several of Shuten-doji's horned minions attempt to escape their fate by climbing up a red pillar. An absolutely stunning design and the artist's masterwork. Beautifully detailed with fine line work, and handsomely colored. A fantastic opportunity for the serious collector to purchase an outstanding woodblock print of this legendary tale.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Vertical fold near right edge of each panel. A few small holes and thinning spots, a few small losses at edges, repaired. Creasing, slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
