Cherry Blossoms Viewing, 1857

Comments - Charming scene of Prince Genji and two companions viewing the cherry blossoms on a spring day. The young nobleman relaxes on a bench beneath a flowering tree, smoking a pipe and smiling as he looks up. The beauty at right wears an elegant gray floral kimono tied with a red-orange brocade obi, her hair adorned with small flowers and ribbons. On the shore at left, visitors stroll along a fenced walkway, with a stone bridge leading over the water below. An attractive design, nicely detailed.
