Original Kuniyasu (1794 - 1832) Japanese Woodblock Print
Sekawa Kikunojo V as a Beauty

Comments - Attractive kabuki portrait of Sekawa Kikunojo V as a beauty, adjusting a hairpin with one hand as she looks back over her shoulder out of the corners of her eyes. She wears a pretty kimono shaded from lavender to white with an embossed pattern of bamboo, tied with a striking black obi with large blue and red motifs. The obi is not properly tied, but hangs loose at the side with one end tucked under her arm. The railing of a bridge extends towards the right with signposts in front of it, and blue water beyond. A wonderful design with beautiful, fresh color. Dates prior to 1832, when Sekawa Kikunojo V sadly died at the age of thirty-one.

Artist - Kuniyasu (1794 - 1832)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 10" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Wormholes and small holes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases, slight rubbing near bottom edge. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
