View of Foreigners' Buildings in Yokohama, 1866

Comments - Terrific triptych depicting a foreigners' building in Yokohama. The modern stone building has two stories with glass windows and a section jutting out like a bay window in the center. A group of Westerners gathers on the verandah to watch the seen below, as other men and women peer out the windows framed by shutters on either side. The street below is bustling, with performers in the center playing drums and juggling a hoop. Foreign women in large hoop skirts and bonnets are joined by a Japanese family at right and two Chinese men at left. A fantastic Yokohama-e image with wonderful detail.

Artist - Yoshikazu (active circa 1850 - 1870)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 29 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight paper remnants on reverse of right panel from previous backing. A few holes and thinning spots, small loss at one top corner, repaired. Toning, soiling, and rubbing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
