Courtesan with a Rabbit Obi

Comments - Attractive portrait of an elegantly dressed courtesan strolling through the Yoshiwara. She wears a black kimono patterned with large chrysanthemums and trimmed with different chrysanthemum prints, tied with a striking obi that features geometric stripes, rabbits, and peonies. Her hair is adorned with many decorative hairpins and combs. A low fence behind her encloses a garden with flowering yellow yamabuki and a blossoming cherry tree. A charming Edo era beauty subject, with wonderful detail in the fabrics.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 10" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Small losses at top corners, a few wormholes and holes, repaired. Toning and soiling, slight rubbing and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
