Rebuilding Kiyosu Castle

Comments - Incredible triptych depicting the rebuilding of Kiyosu Castle in three days under the direction of Kinoshita Tokichiro (the future Toyotomi Hideyoshi). At left, Hideyoshi kneels before Lord Oda Nobunaga, who sits astride a dappled horse. Hideyoshi gestures towards the men at work on scaffoldings surrounding the stone walls of the fortress. At far right, a worker hands a bucket tied to a rope up to another workman. Behind him, a mason strikes a chisel with a mallet, while other men maneuver a large beam tied to a heavy rope. At the bottom of the center panel, another mason transfers mortar from a shovel onto a small board using a trowel. A fantastic image with wonderful detail and a striking composition. A great illustration of this legendary event.

Artist - Sadahide (1807 - 1873)

Image Size - 14" x 28 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with old paper. Vertical crease in center panel. A few small wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
