Comments - Fantastic triptych showing the armored samurai Ise Saburo (Ise Yoshimori) approaching a home in the country at night to visit his son. He lunges forward, holding a flaming torch high in one hand as he reaches for his sword with the other. Inside, the young man peers around the edge of a hanging reed blind, slowly drawing his own sword, unsure who the visitor is. Tall trees frame the lonely structure, and a full moon glows high in the evening sky. Orange smoke drifts back from the glowing fire of the torch, and a single oil lamp burns inside the house. A dramatic moment full of tension. Beautifully drawn with wonderful soft shading, calligraphic line work in the trees, and touches of burnishing.

Artist - Toshikata (1866 - 1908)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 27 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Vertical center fold in center panel, will be shipped folded. Slight separation at bottom of fold. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
