Comments - Terrific image of the great warrior Akechi Samanosuke Mitsuharu escaping from the Hori clan following his defeat at a battle in Uchide-hama. His is shown swimming alongside his horse across Lake Biwa in Omi Province, holding the animal's reins as it swims through the deep water. His sashimono or personal standard flutters above his head, and his body can be seen in muted color beneath the water. The famous Pine Tree at Karasaki looms on the horizon. A fantastic design with beautiful color and shading in the water and a masterful depiction of the horse and armor under the water. A great Kiyochika design.
