Picture of the Imperial Army Landing from the Rear and Capturing Port Arthur, 1904

Comments - Fantastic scene of the Japanese Imperial Army landing on the shore from the rear before capturing Port Arthur during the Russo-Japanese War. A general waves a Japanese flag triumphantly from the top of a captured Russian gun emplacement, a dead enemy soldier lying on his back at bottom center. A bugler sounds the charge as Japanese troops rush up the rocky slope, rows of guns with bayonets fixed disappearing into the clouds of smoke at lower left. A red sun glows on the horizon, flooding the sky with yellow, orange, and rosy pink light, which is also reflected on the water. A dramatic design and a rare Ohara Koson war triptych, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Artist - Ohara Koson (Shoson)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight creasing near edges. A few smudges in top margins, a couple tiny spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
