Mount Atago in Shiba, circa 1832 - 1838 - Handsome view of the entrance gate to Atago Shrine atop Mt. Atago in Shiba. Visitors stroll about the grounds, pausing for a break in the tea stalls on either side of the large gate, red paper lanterns hanging from the eaves. Pigeons gather on the grass and perch on the railing of the entrance gate. The location offers a wonderful view of the city below and the sea beyond, with sails dotting the horizon. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection. A charming design.
