Comments - Charming uncut kabuki paper model set, complete in three panels, illustrating the kabuki dance-drama "The Feather Robe" (Hagoromo), based on the popular Noh play of the same name. A fisherman finds a magical feather robe belonging to a tennin, a heavenly Buddhist spirit, hanging upon a pine tree and decides to takes it home. The tennin, who cannot fly without the robe, pleads with the fisherman to return it to her. He finally agrees, but only if she will dance for him, so she performs a beautiful dance, recovering the cloak and returning to heaven. The scene shows the tennin flying off above the astonished fishermen, who wave their arms as they kneel near a shrine.
