Hikone Castle by Yamaguchi Hoshun (1893 - 1971)

Original Yamaguchi Hoshun (1893 - 1971) Japanese Woodblock Print
Hikone Castle

Comments - Lovely shin hanga landscape with a view of Hikone Castle in the distance. Perched atop a hill, the tower rises above the surrounding trees, a few patches of autumn color dotting the foliage on the slopes below. A few birds flutter above the river in the foreground, while others wheel high above in the sky. Beautifully colored and rendered in a very painterly style. A wonderful design by this rarely seen artist, also in the collection of the Sackler Freer Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.

Artist - Yamaguchi Hoshun (1893 - 1971)

Image Size - 9 1/8" x 12 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Toning, slight creasing near edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
