Spring: Enjoying the Palace Garden, 1847 - 1852 - Beautiful triptych depicting Prince Genji and several beauties on wooden walkways over a pond filled with blooming purple iris. They pause to admire the gorgeous blooms, enjoying the spring day. The young nobleman wears an elegant coat over his kimono and carries an ornate pipe. A girl crouching beside him holds his sword, while the beauty at lower left carries a tobacco set in a black lacquer caddy. At upper left, two women steady a young girl walking along the planks above the water. A lovely landscape setting with soft shading in the water and a large pine tree framing the scene. A handsome design.
