Series; Pastimes in the Mountains

Summer Promenade, circa 1920 - Handsome shin hanga design from a series by Nomura Yoshimitsu depicting pastimes in the mountains. Here, a few people pause atop a hill during their stroll. A woman holds a parasol while her two male companions chat, a dog at her feet. At lower right, a couple enjoys a promenade through the valley below. Rooftops can be seen nestled among the trees, and the mountains and the mountains in the distance are rendered in lush tones of green and blue. Smoke or steam issues from the volcanic peak at upper right, which is bathed in rosy sunlight near the top. A charming image with the look of a painting.
