Beauties Painting

Comments - Terrific image of beauties painting fans and pictures on paper. In the center, a woman admires a finished design of a child clamoring at the side of a jolly old monk, perhaps the Lucky God Hotei. At right, a woman mixes pigment in a shallow bowl with her finger while a younger girl prepares ink on a stone. At left, a beauty practices calligraphy on a large sheet of paper. Containers of water and brushes are scattered about the floor, along with several rolls of paper. A charming scene with lively color and wonderful detail in the elegant fabrics and household furnishings.
