Beauty Reading a Letter Kakemono, circa 1843 - 1845 - Lovely Eizan design of a beauty reading a long letter, unrolling it with an eager expression, a cloth caught between her teeth. She wears a green kimono with an intricate floral pattern over a striped red robe trimmed with blue tie-dyed fabric, tied with a black obi. Her hair is pulled sleekly back, held in place with a comb and hairpins. She leans back against a wooden pillar, a lantern hanging at upper left. The composition beautifully fits the kakemono or vertical diptych format. A classic Edo era beauty print.

Artist - Eizan (1787 - 1867)

Image Size - 26 3/8" x 9"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two panels, attached at the seam. Small losses at corners, a few small holes and thinning spots, repaired. Slight creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
