There is almost no wear, soiling, or storage offsetting. Look for rare designs by Yoshitoshi, Chikanobu, Gekko and others. Shop the auctions marked “A London Collection” for an opportunity to add some especially rare triptychs to your collection.

Comments - Terrific triptych of a fierce-looking samurai in full armor standing on a hillside. He scowls angrily as he looks across the valley below at figures inside a rustic country home, one seen in silhouette against a shoji panel. The warrior wears a beautifully detailed suit of armor over a brown robe patterned with Buddhist prayer wheels, and a black court cap. He grips a large club with his gloved hand. A bridge crosses a river leading toward the home, with tall trees framing a view of a distant mountain. The landscape is rendered in soft tones of gray and black, focusing attention on the samurai. A handsome image with fine bokashi shading and burnishing in the armor and cap.

Artist - Toshikata (1866 - 1908)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 27 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Vertical center fold in center panel, will be shipped folded. Slight separation at end of fold, repaired. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
