Series; Collected Views of Japan II, Kansai Edition
The Kasuga Shrine, Nara, 1933 - Lovely view of Kasuga Shrine at Nara during a shower. Two women share an umbrella, pausing to admire the imposing structure and the many stone lanterns for which the site is famous. Their kimono and the red pillars of the shrine are reflected on the wet surface of the pavement, creating a beautiful shimmering effect beneath the falling raindrops. A wonderful, atmospheric design and a fine lifetime print.
