Sakuragawa by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Sakuragawa

Series; Six Jewel-like Faces of the Eastern Capital, 1830s

Sakuragawa - Beautiful portrait of a young princess tossing a fan in the air from a series parodying the famous "Six Jewel Rivers." The beauty looks up with a smile as the fan hangs weightless in mid-air, one hand extended from throwing it and the other read to catch it. She wears a lovely kimono with a design of floral ornaments with colorful streamers, trimmed with layers of red and yellow fabric. Her hair is arranged in a smooth bun, adorned with clusters of tiny blue flowers and ribbons. The inset at left shows the Sakuragawa or River of Cherry Blossoms. A lovely design with rich color, detailed with embossing in the yellow kimono trim.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 3/4" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few thinning spots at edges, a few small wormholes, repaired. Slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
