Original Eizan (1787 - 1867) Japanese Woodblock Print
Travelers at Enoshima, circa 1814 - 1817

Comments - Attractive scene of travelers making their way along the shore at Enoshima. The beauty in the center pauses to light her pipe from her male companion's pipe as two young boys dance about excitedly on the sand. A porter follow behind the group, carrying a yoke with large parcels and hats attached to it. The narrow causeway that leads out to Enoshima Island at low tide is visible as a dark streak among across the water, and the spire of the pagoda from the temple dedicated to Benzaiten is just visible above the heavily wooded hills. Mt. Fuji can be seen in the distance. A handsome image, nicely detailed.

Artist - Eizan (1787 - 1867)

Image Size - 10 1/4" x 14 3/8" + right margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Wormholes and small holes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few faint stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
