Series; Collection of New Ukiyo-e Beauties
First Snow, November, 1924 - Beautiful shin hanga portrait from the series "Collection of New Ukiyo-e Beauties," which features a beautiful woman for each month of the year. Here, the young beauty looks pensively out the window at the first snow of the winter, large flakes falling against the gray sky. Her long kimono sleeve is draped over her hand, and held close to her chin. Her striped blue robe is patterned with autumn leaves in pastel shades, worn over a red tie-dyed under robe and tied with a chrysanthemum obi. Her hair is pulled back into a large bun, the edges softly shaded to add a sense of dimension. Her hair is adorned with a red lacquer comb and a cluster of flowers. A lovely design with a sense of delicacy about the features and hair. Beautifully detailed with dark gold mica on the chrysanthemums on the obi. A terrific choice for a shin hanga collector.
