The Appearance of Hoeizan (Part II of the Same)

Series; A Selection from One Hundred Views of Mt. Fuji

A Meiji Printing in Color - Hokusai’s original ehon release of his “100 Views of Fuji” was particularly well received. The designs were especially beautiful and thoughtful with Mt. Fuji depicted as an ever present background to daily life in Japan. The series demonstrated Hokusai's incredible draftsmanship and compositional skill. During the Meiji period, a small Tokyo publisher released this series in slightly larger format and, more importantly, in color. The color plates brought the images to life and the sets quickly sold out. Old prints from the color re-release are rarely seen these days and enjoyable to collect. Don't miss out on these rare prints!
