Odawara

Series; The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido by Two Brushes

Odawara - Charming design from the collaborative Hiroshige and Toyokuni III Tokaido Road series, referred to as "The Tokaido by Two Brushes." Hiroshige's tranquil landscape in the background illustrates the river crossing at Odawara with tiny travelers making their way across the water. In the foreground, Toyokuni III depicts a beauty using the sleeve of her tie-dyed blue and white kimono to dry the side of her face after a bath. She smiles happily as she looks down at the young girl kneeling beside her, who reaches into a basket filled with toys, including tops and rattles. Lovely color and detail in this attractive print. An excellent choice from the series and a nice opportunity to collect.
