Comments - Dramatic scene from the Sino-Japanese War of Japanese troops attacking Peking (now Beijing) Castle. At right, a Japanese soldier in a tattered uniform wrenches the arm of an enemy over his shoulder, lifting the man off the ground as he kneels atop another Chinese man. In the center, an officer grabs an opponent by the chest as he raises his sword high. At left, a Japanese general directs the charge with his sword extended, men rushing past him. At upper right, Chinese troops massed outside the palace walls take aim at the attackers. A striking design with large expressive figures. Includes extensive burnishing in the black uniforms.
