The Second of the Line - Lord Hidetada (Daitoku-in) - Dramatic scene of Lord Hidetada, the second Tokugawa shogun, fleeing in a boat from the Battle of Osaka Castle with Sanada Daisuke in hot pursuit. Accompanied by samurai from the Okubo Clan, Hidetada sits in the boat at left, gesturing at his enemies as a boatman quickly poles the craft away from the shore. Daisuke stands in the saddle of his horse at upper right, angry that his enemy is escaping. The fight continues behind him with smoke billowing across the night sky, a group of startled herons taking flight. A handsome design, nicely detailed and shaded, with faint embossing in the birds' feathers.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Center panel backed with old paper. Thinning at lower left corner of right panel, a few small wormholes and holes, repaired. Slight soiling and creasing, slight rubbing near edges. Please see photos for details.
