Miniature Kabuki Triptych

Comments - Interesting miniature kabuki triptych of a young warrior throwing his hand up in the air, smiling as he lowers his chin. The nobleman at right glares at him angrily with a tight-lipped frown, gripping a naginata with both hands. He wears a red coat with a crane over the shoulders and a pleated green brocade collar. A beauty watches warily at left as she pulls up the collar of her kimono. Nice expressive figures with lively color and fine line work in the hair.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 6 1/2" x 13 3/4" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight soiling and creasing, paper slightly curled. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
