Visit to Nikko Shrine

Series; Outer Chiyoda Palace (Chiyoda no on-omote)

Visit to Nikko Shrine - Beautiful Chikanobu triptych depicting a samurai arriving for an audience with the elderly shogun during a visit to Nikko Shrine. Dressed in elegant formal robes, he approaches the dais where the shogun is seated with a bow across his lap. The roof of the pavilion at right features carved lions, the pillar patterned with repeated crests of a crane with outstretched wings. The beautifully carved and tiled rooftop at left frames the view dramatically, with the shrine complex in the distance shrouded in mist. An exquisite court scene with wonderful detail and soft shading.

Image Size - 13 3/8" x 28 1/8" + margins as shown
