Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Handing Out Envelopes

Comments - Intriguing image of a group gathered around a cloth-covered table, with a seated man in the chair at right handing out envelopes that are scattered across the table. A young man in a black coat holds up his gift, while an older man leans forward at right. Above him, a strange-looking bearded man wearing glasses and a dotted coat watches with his hand resting on the back of the chair. The text panel above is supported by two dancing tengu, mythical winged creatures with a long nose or a beak. An interesting design with lively color.
