Beauty Reading a Letter Kakemono

Comments - Charming Edo era kakemono or vertical diptych of a beauty reading a letter. She looks down with a smile, absorbed in the message, as she leans back against a wooden post. She wears a striped kimono trimmed with a pale blue and white print of birds. Her black and rust colored obi features an intricate geometric pattern, one end trailing down to the floor behind her back. A lovely portrait drawn with graceful flowing line work. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.

Artist - Eizan (1787 - 1867)

Image Size - 28 7/8" x 9 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two attached panels, backed with paper. A few wormholes, repaired. Soiling and creasing. Tape residue on reverse at corners with bleed-through to front. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
