Comments - Terrific image of a daimyo's procession crossing Nihonbashi` bridge on their way into Edo. At right, four yakko or low-ranking servants toss two tall fringed standards back and forth. They are followed by rows of samurai wearing black outer robes over kimono tucked into hakama pants, and straw hats. Warehouses line the banks of the Sumida River, and the snow-covered peak of Mt. Fuji rises in the distant at right as a few birds wheel about the sky. A handsome composition, nicely detailed burnishing in some of the black robes and soft shading in the sky.
