Lucky Gods Daikoku and Ebisu Playing Music and Dancing

Comments - Charming scene of Daikoku and Ebisu, two of Japan's famous Seven Lucky Gods, enjoying some entertainment with three beauties. At left, Daikoku sits beneath a pine tree atop his magic sack, playing a shamisen as one of the women tugs on the end of the bag. Beside him, Ebisu dances about, waving a fan and grinning happily. He has a red sea bream or red snapper tucked under his arm. The seated woman at upper right plays a biwa or Japanese lute. A delightful scene from the early years of hand-colored Japanese woodblock prints.
