Sensual Modern Beauties

Comments - Charming image of three courtesans at leisure, one engrossed in reading a long letter. The woman at left kneels beside a brazier and a stand holding dishes, chatting with the beauty in the center who holds a roll of tissues. Her black outer robe is bordered with a pale yellow panel featuring iris blossoms and leaves, trimmed with a pink print. A pillow, a slender pipe, and a ring of keys rests on the floor nearby. The branch at upper left is a traditional New Year's decoration called a mochibana, made from mochi or rice cakes on a willow branch to simulate plum blossoms. An interesting subject, nicely detailed with touches of embossing in the fabric.

Artist - Masanobu (1761 - 1816)

Image Size - 15 1/4" x 10 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Creasing at top left corner. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
