Snow Scene on the Banks of the Sumida River, 1891

Comments - Lovely scene of three beauties in a pleasure boat on a winter day. With a blue scarf wrapped snuggly around her head, one of the women steps out onto the bank, an umbrella in hand as the other two watch. Two women wait on the shore under an umbrella, a fringed shawl over the shoulders of one. The boatman stands silently in the front of the craft, his straw mantle and hat covered with snow. A stunning triptych with a beautiful winter landscape setting, the snow falling gently over the blue sky and water. Wonderful color and detail in the brightly colored kimono fabrics. A terrific Chikanobu subject.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 27 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight soiling in top margin of center panel, a few faint spots. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
