Gathering Spring Greens

Comments - k265/194k265f.jpg Interesting kabuki scene of a group of men and women gathering spring greens and herbs. The woman at right holds a basket filled with greenery up to her head, while the beauty in the center smiles as she looks down at her male companion. Each wears a black kimono trimmed with insets of fern print fabric, and the women have white cloths pinned protectively over their hairstyles. At left, a man watches them solemnly, his head covered with a blue cloth tied with a narrow white sash. He wears a blue floral vest over a blue and white plaid kimono, his hands tucked up into the sleeve. A blossoming cherry tree frames the evening sky overhead. Nicely detailed with burnishing in the black kimono and fine bokashi shading in the background.
