Battle along a River

Comments - Fantastic triptych depicting a battle taking place along a river in the mountains. In the center, two warriors on horseback trade blows in the middle of the water, one using his naginata to slice through the other's weapon. On the rocky shore at lower right, a young samurai grips an enormous iron club with both hands as attackers run through the flowing current to attack. On the grassy slope above, a warrior on a black horse has just fired an arrow, his bow in hand. Behind him, several banners feature the paulownia crest of the Minamoto Clan. A terrific image with beautiful color and wonderful detail in the rugged landscape setting.

Artist - Sadahide (1807 - 1873)

Image Size - 15" x 30 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three panels, attached at the seams. A few small holes, repaired. Slight fraying at edges. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
