Comments - Lovely triptych depicting a young nobleman and several beauties enjoying an outing to view the cherry blossoms. He sits on a cushion atop a rug at right, smiling up at the beauty tying a poem slip to a branch, a folding fan caught between her teeth. In the center, a beauty kneeling next to a rushing stream holds a flowering branch. At left, a seated beauty enjoys a cup of sake. Other picnickers can be seen among the trees in the distance. Beautiful color and detail in the elegant kimono and obi fabrics. Lavishly printed with embossing in the white kimono trim, burnishing in the black obi and black lacquer boxes, embossing in the cherry blossoms, and a dusting of mica over the water. A wonderful illustration of this favorite spring activity.
