At the Battle of Fujikawa, Sarunosuke Makes a Name for Himself in His First Battle, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Incredible triptych of the young Toyotomi no Hideyoshi, who was nicknamed Sarunosuke in his youth, presenting three gruesome decapitated heads to a daimyo after the Battle of Fujikawa. Dressed in full armor, the warriors kneel on a beach at the water's edge, the three heads displayed on small wooden platforms with identification tags attached. The general sits on a folding stool at right wearing an impressive horned battle helmet topped with a dragon. The retainers surrounding him gesture excitedly towards the war trophies. An intriguing print with excellent detail and expressive faces, with fine embossed lines depicting ripples on the water's surface. An intriguing subject for a collector interested in the samurai tradition.
