Wild Duck and Reeds in Snow

Comments - Beautiful winter view of a wild or mallard duck swimming beneath snow-covered reeds. Large flakes of snow fall gently over the scene, the background shaded from gray to blue with darker water in the foreground. The bird's feathers are beautifully detailed, with faint embossing in the neck and side. The poem at upper left reads:

A duck calls softly;
a breeze sets ripples moving
over the water.

A fine old reprint of this classic Hiroshige design, with lovely bokashi shading in the background.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 6 3/4"
