Original Eisen (1790 - 1848) Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauty with a Letter under a Full Moon Kakemono

Comments - Lovely kakemono or vertical diptych of a young beauty holding a partially unrolled letter. She seems distressed at the contents, biting the tip of her tongue between her teeth. She wears a pale gray kimono covered with embossed kanji characters, trimmed with a green and yellow stripe. Her black obi reverses to a green fabric patterned with gourds. A full moon glows in the sky above. A beautiful design with a soft color palette and nice shading in the sky. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 28 1/2" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. One tiny loss at edge, repaired. Toning, light creasing, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
