Eisen's Beauties Tokaido - Lovely portrait from Eisen's wonderful series pairing beauties with the stations of the Tokaido Road. Following the success of Hiroshige's "Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido," Eisen created his own version in the 1830s featuring large beauty portraits in the foreground with landscapes above. These attractive designs demonstrate Eisen's mastery of the classic Japanese beauty subject, combined with travel along the famed Tokaido, with views ranging from bustling villages to the serene countryside. A wonderful image with fine bokashi shading.
