Series; The Tea Ceremony (Chanoyu)

The Tea Ceremony - These lovely woodblocks are from a series of prints by Toshikata illustrating the Japanese tea ceremony. Beautifully drawn and delicately colored, these tranquil designs capture the harmony and beauty associated with this classic ritual. Prints from this terrific series rarely come on the market. A wonderful choice for display, or for any collector interested in this timeless Japanese ceremony.

Changing the Scroll - During the nakadachi recess, the host and her assistant replace the hanging scroll and add a new flower arrangement to the niche in the tea room. Here, one beauty carefully trims blossoms for the arrangement with a scissors, while the other unrolls a scroll. Colorful Japanese maple leaves are visible through the open window.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous folio mounting. Some prints have a few small spots or slight soiling, or a few light creases. Please see photos for details.
