Tsumago: Seki Sanjuro II as the Monk Koiiwa - Terrific image of Seki Sanjuro II as the monk Koiiwa, staring over his shoulder with an alarmed expression. He grimaces with eyes wide as he stretches a hanging scroll out between his hands, featuring a design of a carp leaping up a waterfall. His black outer robe is tattered, and he has a blue and white tie-dyed cloth wrapped about his forehead, with bushy hair sticking up above it. The background behind him shows a mountainous region with the setting sun spreading a rosy glow along the horizon. A large temple bell frames the title cartouche at upper right. A great, expressive kabuki portrait.

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Faint vertical center fold. Minor separation at ends of fold, repaired from reverse. Minor thinning along center fold and at edges in some prints. Remnants from previous backing on some prints. Please see photos for a sense of individual condition. Generally in nice condition overall.
