Recovering a Kimono, 1853

Comments - Interesting scene from the kabuki play "Onna Seigen" showing Suketakaya Takasuke III as the samurai Yoshida no Matsuwakamaru using a net to retrieve the kimono of his fiancee, Princess Sakura. He peers intently into the water with eyes wide, an alarmed expression on his face, flames rising from the torch in his hand as he leans forward in the boat. An intriguing subject, nicely detailed

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few small wormholes, repaired. A few ink marks, slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details.
