Watching a Festival

Series; Inner Chiyoda Palace (Chiyoda no Ooku)

Watching a Festival - Wonderful triptych of young palace beauties watching a festival procession from a verandah screened with reed blinds. The ladies kneel around trays of fruit and sweets, chatting and gesturing at the drum topped with a giant rooster going past. Beautiful color and detail in this attractive woodblock, with fine embossing on the white kimono trim and rooster's feathers. Would make a lovely display.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 28 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. Backed with old paper. Toned at edges as shown. Some light soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
