Beauty Holding a Coat Kakemono

Comments - Lovely kakemono or vertical diptych of a beauty holding open a coat, perhaps for her lover, the robe made from sheer black silk with a crest over the center back. She looks down with a rather dismayed expression, her mouth slightly agape. She wears an intricately patterned blue and gray kimono tied with a plaid obi over a red under robe, her bare feet peeking from beneath the hem. Her hair is swept back into a smooth bun, adorned with a large comb and hairpins decorated with geese, swallows, and a cherry blossom. A charming Edo era design with beautiful detail.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 28 1/4" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. Two small losses near top edge, a few small holes, repaired. Toning, slight soiling, crease near top edge. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
