Segawa Kikunojo as a Courtesan, 1826

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Segawa Kikunojo in the role of a courtesan, waiting beside a bench at a tea stand. She looks back over her shoulder with an unhappy sneer, patting her hair with one hand, a roll of tissues in the other hand. She wears a black kimono bordered with white blossoms over a red under robe, tied with a blue and white striped obi that reverses to a red print. Her hair is pulled back into a sleek bun, adorned with a tortoise shell comb and hairpins. A nice expressive figure.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 7/8" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Stitching holes along left edge from previous folio binding, repaired. Slight soiling and creasing, slight rubbing near edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
