Series; Famous Places in Tokyo

The Mausoleum at Shiba, 1903 - Handsome scene of a beauty and a young girl paying a visit to the Tokugawa mausoleum in Shiba Park. The woman pauses outside the beautifully carved and colored entrance, looking over her shoulder with a smile. She wears a blue floral kimono tied with a purple print obi, a Western style umbrella in her hand. The girl carries a small handbag, and a young servant waits next to them with a cloth parcel tied around his shoulders. Two policemen guard the shrine, dressed in blue uniforms. An attractive and colorful design, nicely detailed with burnishing in the hair and the black architectural elements.
