Battle of Asan, 1894

Comments - Dramatic depiction of Japanese troops launching an assault against the Manchu Army at Asan during the Sino-Japanese War. In the center, an officer with his sword upright urges his troops forward for the attack. Beneath a fluttering Japanese flag, the men aim guns at the enemy at left as an enormous explosion throws several Chinese to the ground. A cloud of orange and pink smoke drifts upwards, filling the sky as more troops at right follow an officer on horseback into the battle. A lively scene with vibrant color and fine bokashi shading.
