Matsuchiyama, circa 1839 - 1842 - Handsome view of the bustling Saruwaka Machi theater district in the foreground, with Matsuchiyama in the distance, a temple nestled among the deep green trees. The street below is crowded with theater-goers, with an entrance at right topped with large signs and flanked with banners. From the upper story of the teahouses, beauties and guests look down on the lively street. Low-lying clouds shaded with pink and yellow drift across the scene. An interesting design.
